CRKT’s Popular Alan Folts Designed Neck Knife Gets Another Steel Option to End 2022
Columbia River Knife and Tool’s last drop of the year is a 154CM steel version of their popular Minimalist neck knife. The Minimalist was already available in a variety of steel options including 8Cr13MoV and D2.
This update rounds out the options for the design with a mid-range (but still very respectable) stainless steel. 154CM is a great steel option for a well designed, budget neck knife. It takes a fine edge and offers good toughness and corrosion resistance. The update also comes with a new handle material. CRKT is listing it as “resin infused fiber” which should be something like Micarta, just not from the big brand name.
It also comes with a leather sheath that shifts the carry option from neck knife to belt carry. Although the sheath does have a button clasp and a hole at the tip with a metal ring insert, so it still makes an excellent neck knife if you have your own chain or cord to run through it.
The Premium Minimalist is one of a several designs CRKT has been playing around with. It’s joined by the Burnley Squid II and a Micarta version of the Ritualist. For a company that puts so much into putting out new designs, it’s nice to see them stop and upgrade one of their tried and true knives. More options are always better, and this update is a strong end to a solid year for Cricket.
