In keeping with Reiff’s pattern so far, they’ve released their largest fixed blade model with the trendy new steel.
There are a couple of other new features, though.
- There are three sheath options available: Kydex, leather, and leather with a drop-leg loop;
- A polished stonewash finish instead of the acid stonewash of the original;
- The handle is available in G10 (in black, orange, coyote tan, or OD green) or canvas Micarta (in natural brown, green and black, all green, or all black).
You can read all about it here.
The most noticeable difference in this steel update will be in rust resistance. Magnacut is being used by other companies in models intended for highly corrosive environments.
They also raised the heat treatment to 60 – 62 HRC (over the 58 – 60 of the CPM-3V version) which should result in slightly better edge retention.
This follows closely on the heels of their release of their newest models: the S5 Bushcraft, and F5 Field Survival knives which were preceded by the Reiff F4 knives So while it might seem like the company moves slowly on new products, they are still always moving.
The F6 Leuku is available right now on the Reiff Knives site, and their stuff tends to sell out quickly, so get a move on if you want one.
