Ocaso Knives Adds Unique Anodization Option to Solstice

The gentleman flipper designed by Andrew Demko is getting a special treatment to its handle: it’s now available with entropic anodization.

It’s a particular method of anodization that creates “complex, random patterns and striking colorations [that] evoke the look of lightning or space nebulas”, per Ocaso’s newsletter announcement.

The random nature of this anodization means that no two scales will be alike. Not only the patterns, but the colors will range from light blue to deep purple.

The anodized titanium version of the Ocaso Solstice with the blade partially open on a wood table.

This is in collaboration with Way of Knives, the Michigan-based one-stop-shop for EDC gear, sharpening, and after market modifications. This is actually their second time collaborating on Solstice scales. They had previously been making sprinkles-centric scales designed by the Crispy Donut Community, but those were recently discontinued.

The Solstice with the entropic anodization will come standard with the straight blade style, but Ocaso encourages people to reach out to them if they’d prefer it with a harpoon or wharncliffe blade. Straight off the shelf, this special edition runs around $300.

The entropic anodization version of the Solstice is available now from the Ocaso site,
