Cary Orifice, owner and designer at Off Grid knives, announced the third iteration of their most popular flipper on Wednesday night.
The two major updates are the Magnacut steel blade, and the size, which Cary says is “XL sized, I just didn’t call it XL”.
Other notable updates:
- More jimping farther up the spine;
- 4 inch blade (up from 3 inches on the Black Mamba V2)
- Weight is up to 6 oz (from the 4-ish oz of the V2)
- It also looks like they’re using a wider pocket clip, which makes sense with the increased size and weight.
It’s also available in coyote scales, which isn’t something Off Grid has offered with titanium handles before. The effect creates almost a gold-ish color (Cary off-handedly suggests “coyote gold” as a name).
It’s otherwise available in the all black titanium handle and blade of the previous versions.
Outside of those changes, the Black Mamba V3 still has the same wharncliffe blade shape with a slightly curved edge, a deep-carry pocket clip, a frame lock, and a razor edge.
The Black Mamba V3 is available now on Off Grid’s site. The current price is $250, but Cary mentioned that’s probably an “early bird special”, and the price will likely go up eventually, so don’t wait too long.
