The Ranger is a classically-inspired folder designed by custom maker Jared Oeser.
It’s meant to be an homage to Texas (where Tactile is based), and gets its name from Oeser’s ex-Ranger neighbor who handled early prototypes of the design.
Here are the quick specs:
Overall Length: | 7.3″ |
Blade Length: | 3.15″ |
Blade Steel: | Magnacut |
Hardness: | 63 – 64 HRc |
Handle Material: | Titanium w/ Micarta shield |
Made In: | Dallas, TX |
It opens with a nail nick and what Tactile says is a 7-8 pull. It also has a half stop, and they’ve opted to go even more classic by leaving a pocket clip off and stopping the blade in the handle with a kick ground in the tang rather than a stop pin.
Tactile is making the knife closely based off a prototype sent to them by Oeser who is no stranger to slip joints or anything following classic lines. Much of his work follows closely to the words front and center on his website: “traditional knives with a twist”.
The Ranger follows another batch drop of the Archer (designed by TJ Schwarz) and the release of the Mariner 2 (designed by Bob Terzuola) with darker DLC coating.
The Ranger will be available on Oct. 29 at noon CST.
