The major changes are that the blade is a little taller, and there’s a much larger curve to the edge.
They’ve also put jimping behind the tip of the blade so you have more grip and texture when pinching the blade for more precise cuts.
They’ve otherwise changed very little about the design:
It still has G10 scales, a 3-inch blade length with 0.13″ thickness, and comes with a Kydex sheath. Even the weight is only a little more than the Model 1 pro. It also comes in CPM-S35VN steel treated to 58-60 HRc.
This isn’t the first new iteration they’ve made of the Model 1. Other options include the Model 1 Backpacker which comes with a paracord handle instead of G10 to save weight, and the Model 1 Caper.
Currently the Model 1 Skinner is only available with G10 scales, but White River clearly likes to play with their designs. Time will tell if we’ll see it in Micarta down the road.
In the meantime, the Skinner version is available now from White River Knife & Tool’s site.
